For decades, the International Center for Journalists’ International Journalism Exchange has brought experienced newspaper, broadcast or online editors from the developing world to the U.S. to observe how media are managed here.   Read More...

Readers and listeners all over the world enjoyed special insight into the U.S. presidential election as a result of the Elections 2008 Visiting Journalists Program, which brought 48 journalists from 46 countries to cover the historic campaign and vote.

 The program, which ran from Oct. 22 to Nov. 6, was designed to let the journalists see American democracy at work. To achieve that goal, it placed them at the center of the electoral storm. The program was sponsored by the U.S. State Department's Foreign Press Center.

Knight International has worked with newspapers and radio stations to create weekly environmental reports in Indonesia, a country facing deforestation, over-fishing, mining and pollution. Knight Fellow Harry Surjadi partnered with Kompas Gramedia Group to vastly increase coverage of the environment, prompting better government policies.   Read More...

In India, Knight International worked with TERI, one of the world's premier environmental research organizations, to raise the level of environmental reporting in a country seriously affected by global warming. Along with TERI, Knight Fellow Arul Louis held a summit on the environment for top editors and convinced many to expand coverage. He also partnered with the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) and other media groups to incorporate reporting on the environment into all beats, from business to entertainment and sports.   Read More...
