BAKU, AZERBAIJAN - It still remains a puzzle how a 15-year-old boy managed to get into the wheel well of a commercial aircraft before it left Baku bound for Moscow. The teenager, somehow, passed through airport security. The body of the boy, identified as Ilgar Khudiyev of Zabrat settlement, fell from the plane in flight to Moscow on October 17th. His body was found in the Russian Domodedovo forest two days later.

As Ayten Farhadova reports, while psychological help is often considered part of standard treatment, it is not offered by state-run clinics. The first voice you hear is a drug addicted man who asked that his voice be altered so as not to be recognized.

BAKU, AZERBAIJAN - Journalists are normally behind the cameras and microphones, but on Friday, January 31, 2008, eight Baku-based reporters took center stage to celebrate their graduation from the International Center for Journalists’ in-depth investigative reporting training program. The program is a partnership between ICFJ and ANS-TV’s Azerbaijani-American Journalism Academy. It is funded by the US State Department.

BAKU, AZERBAIJAN - More than half of the toys being sold in Azerbaijan are made in China and most of these toys pose a threat to children’s health, according to the state-run Sanitary Quarantine Inspection Office. Officials at the inspection office say it’s impossible for them to inspect all of the toys being brought into Azerbaijan that are made in China, Russia and Iran. These three countries produce most of the toys sold in this country. The officials say some of these toys arriving in Azerbaijan are banned from many other countries because they are dangerous.
