The Knight International Journalism Fellowships

Funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation
This program sends international media professionals to countries around the world for a year or longer to work on projects with lasting impact. In addition, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is sponsoring fellowships to improve coverage of health in Africa. The World Affairs Journalism Fellowships

Funded by the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation
This program improves coverage of global issues in U.S. media by sending journalist abroad to report on international stories of local importance. Participants have won numerous regional and national awards.

This program is an exchange between German and U.S. journalists. Fellows work for two months at news organizations in one another's countries. Many have used the program as a springboard to leadership positions in U.S. and German media.

This program sends a media expert each year to teach at the University of Botswana's Media Studeis Department and to lead other projects designed to improve journalism in that country.
