The fellows from the Alps visit the US Rocky Mountains The day couldn't have been more perfect. It was sunny and 74 degrees. Traffic was a bit heavy driving north from Denver, but it disappeared as soon as we got to Boulder. We got a little lost on our way up to to Boulder - the road we had to take was literally right behind our hotel - so close that we missed the entry ramp - but we ended up taking the scenic highway, climbing to an altitude of almost 9,000 feet.

On the way up to the Rocky peaks, we stopped at Boulder Falls for a short hike to see a waterfall.

Here's our ride for the week, with Uwe - the Navigator - and Meinrad peeking out of the passenger side window.

We were literally a stone throw away from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, but had to turn back down, in order not to miss the main attraction of today. It broke my (and Lisa's) heart that we couldn't spend the whole day exploring the Rockies. SORRY, Lisa! |
