The highlight of the week, the man who was the topic of (most of) our discussions for the past seven days - finally we'll be able to see what the hype is all about... We made it - nobody was kept out because of lack of high-level accreditation. Our seats were in section 132, pretty far up in the stands, just below the jumbotron screen. We took our seats around 3:30, a long ways to go before Sen. Obama would take the stage.

Nevertheless, we had a great view of the stage.

Intermingled with speeches by Congress(wo)men, we saw performances by Dreamgirl Jennifer Hudson, who sang the National Anthem, Sheryl Crow and Stevie Wonder.

Former Vice President Al Gore (also known as 'Maerchen Onkel' by a cynical Austrian voice in the crowd) told the crowd why Barack Obama would be the better choice for the environment.

Smokin' Joe (Biden) also made an unscheduled appearance at the mic, followed by 10-minute videa biography of the keynote speaker of the evening.

The well-choreographed evening was rounded out with fireworks.

Check out this video of Obama coming onto the stage and the fellows watching:
