Portal for International Journalists Launches in Russian, Its Sixth Language

The International Journalists' Network (IJNet), the largest online source of information on journalism training and support worldwide, has added the Russian language to its multilingual news, information, commentary and networking services.

IJNet not only provides news on journalism training opportunities, but also connects a global network of journalists and media development organizations through social networking tools, discussion spaces and other forums. To access IJNet in Russian, go to: ijnet.org/ru

IJNet’s Russian language offerings include materials and forums available in Arabic, English, Persian, Portuguese, and Spanish. A free weekly bulletin is also sent to nearly 18,000 subscribers around the globe.

The Russian edition of IJNet debuts at a time when journalists in Russia are facing increased censorship, financial hardship and personal risk for their reporting.  Aside from receiving the IJNet weekly bulletin in their language, Russian-speakers can participate in weekly discussions on timely topics and find opportunities for professional development.

IJNet has been published since 1998 by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). The Web site carries information about activities of scores of organizations that work in media development. It is accessed by an average of about 17,000 visitors each month.
