ICFJ Offers Online Course in Digital Journalism in Arabic
The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) is now offering an online course in digital journalism for Arabic-speaking journalists. The course will run from November 9 to December 21.
The six-week course will be led by:
• Daoud Kuttab: an award-winning Palestinian journalist and founder of Amman.net. He is an expert in community radio both offline and online.
• Hoda Osman: a former filed producer at the investigative unit of ABC News in New York. Hoda is also the Vice President of the Arab and Middle Eastern Journalist Association (AMEJA).
During this course, the participants will learn how to:
• Define digital journalism: types of News Web sites, elements of an online news story, differences with traditional media, advantages of new media
• Write for the Web: how to choose a story, search techniques, packaging stories for the Web
• Utilize multimedia tools: review of useful software programs, creating image/audio slideshows, creating news videos, RSS feeds and Podcasts, journalists’ blogs, new media cast studies
• Prepare for the future: ethics of online journalism, advertising on news Web sites, the future of online journalism
