Political and Election Journalism for Guinea
November 2007 - February 2009
The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and Knight International are helping Guinean journalists cover the West African nation's parliamentary elections from the perspective of ordinary people and their concerns, anchoring them at the heart of their coverage.
The journalists who participate in the program will speak to ordinary Guineans and focus on the social issues that most concern them, aiming to hold Guinean politicians accountable to their constituents for their actions on these issues.
ICFJ and Knight are working with a local partner, the Guinean Observatory on Media Professional Ethics (OGUIDEM), to build its capacity and help it fulfill its mission of raising journalists' ethical and professional standards. The fellow assigned to this program is Vianney Missumbi.
