Sagnia is a senior journalist, editor and communications specialist in The Gambia. He served almost three decades as a journalist with the Gambia Department of Information Services. His tenure included a stint as head of the Gambia Information & News Service, the predecessor of the Gambia News Agency. He retired from the Department of Information Services in July 2008.

Since then, he has worked as a part-time news editor for The Point newspaper and The Gambia News & Report weekly news magazine.
