Todd Baer
Todd Baer was a Knight International Journalism Fellow who worked to develop a business model for the first high-quality, multimedia journalism academy in Delhi. Launched by ICFJ, the World Media Academy Delhi equips students with practical, digital skills and international standards that will help them to transform India's media landscape.
Todd Baer is an Emmy-award-winning television journalist and international TV news trainer.
Prior to his fellowship, he worked as a freelance correspondent for Al Jazeera English, covering the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti and other global news stories. Baer joined Al Jazeera English in 2008 in Delhi, India, reporting on politics and unrest in Kashmir. He also covered the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, the conflict in Gaza, and the war in Afghanistan. Baer later served as Al Jazeera English’s Beirut correspondent. Before joining Al Jazeera English, Baer was a freelance correspondent for CNN and ABC News.
Beginning in 2002, Baer worked as a TV consultant, training staff and helping to launch DawnNews, GEO TV and Dunya TV in Pakistan, Aaj Tak TV and Saam TV in India and K24 TV in Kenya. He has been a guest lecturer at journalism schools around the world including Shivaji University in Kolhapur, India, Univer Cidade in Brazil, and the University of Texas-Austin.
Baer previously worked for a decade as a radio and TV correspondent in New York, Texas and Minnesota. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
