Background & Mission: This project aims to build the capacity of the news media to cover the Gulf of California’s development issues in depth. Growth issues range from the construction of a coastal highway, real estate development, tourism policies, agriculture, aquaculture, and climate change. Our workshop will help local and national media improve its sustainable development coverage.
Participants: 20 journalists will be selected from throughout Mexico.
Format: Seminars, briefings, training and field trips on covering sustainable development and conservation in the Gulf of California.
Time: March 8-11, 2007
Location: Hermosillo, Guaymas and Bahia Kino, Northwest Mexico.

What you will gain:
You will discuss past coverage, hear from experienced journalists on how to do in-depth investigative reports on sustainable and unsustainable development. Participants will develop ideas for stories that can and should be done and start mapping out how to do them. You will also gain valuable contacts and exposure to the region’s development issues via exciting field trips throughout the area.
