Holidays In Liberia: 9 journalists receive certificates

Jan 232009

Just in time for the holiday season, I gave 9 Liberian journalists a dose of cheer and goodwill. The group of court reporters received certificates of honor on Saturday from ICFJ and Knight International for completing 12 weeks of intensive training on covering the justice system.

Just in time for the holiday season, I gave 9 Liberian journalists a dose of cheer and goodwill. The group of court reporters received certificates of honor on Saturday from ICFJ and Knight International for completing 12 weeks of intensive training on covering the justice system. Due process! Gender Based-Violence! Drugs! We talked about it all. Each journalist recalled a memorable moment. Reporter Fetus Dukuly said attending the weekly sessions improved his journalism. His stories have more depth and added flair, Dukuly said. The veteran thanked God for sending me. I cried. Later that day I got a phone call, a friend said our gathering had made top news on Liberia's STAR radio. No wonder. Bruce Boldeh who hosts a Saturday radio show on the rule of law had just received honors.    That day they too gave. I received much gratitude from journalists who said the professional development opportunity enhanced their careers-- a result of my efforts, our efforts.  A Christmas gift indeed!
