On our agenda: A new Fellowship orientation and the 2009 Knight International Journalism Awards.

The Knight International team is focused on an upcoming orientation for new Fellows, which will inaugurate the new Africa Development Fellowship Program. And we are reviewing nearly 85 nominations for the 2009 Knight International Journalism Awards. These two programs will be brought together in June, when we host a reception to introduce the new Fellows and introduce the winners of the Awards.

The award winners will be honored at ICFJ's annual dinner on Nov. 12, in Washington, DC. This year, the dinner will mark the 25th anniversary of ICFJ. We are gearing up for a program that will, as always, remind us of the courageous and difficult work our colleagues around the world do to support quality, independent reporting and media.
