Yasmin Ghahremani

Yasmin Ghahremani is an American print and television journalist with 18 years of experience, spanning the US and Asia. She began her career at CNN in Atlanta, where she learned to write and produce at Headline News. She spent the next five years working for various CNN programs before moving to Hong Kong in 1996 with CNBC Asia.

She eventually moved on to a local station, where she helped produce award-winning coverage of the Hong Kong handover to China, and reported on regional environmental issues. Next she worked for a small production company making long-form programs about Asian lifestyle and culture for Discovery Channel Asia.

In 1999, Yasmin transferred her writing and reporting skills to the magazine world, becoming a senior technology writer for Asiaweek magazine, a sister publication to Time Asia. Her work there helped the magazine win an award for its technology coverage. After the publication closed in 2001, she spent a semester studying Mandarin in Beijing before returning to Hong Kong to freelance write and edit for numerous publications. In 2003, she and her husband moved to the New York area, where Yasmin continued to freelance. Her work has appeared in Crain’s New York Business, CFO magazine, Far Eastern Economic Review, Time Asia, Variety, South China Morning Post, Economist Intelligence Unit publications and others. She also recently worked full-time as a producer and reporter for the AT&T Tech Channel, a start-up online video channel dedicated to technology news and entertainment.
