This year’s Knight International Journalism Award winners are real trailblazers. Wael Abbas, the first digital citizen journalist to receive this honor, uses his blog to tackle subjects few dare to cover, from police abuse to corruption. May Thingyan Hein has pushed the limits in her country by writing about everything from HIV/AIDS to bird flu at a time when journalists are under fire.
