Isaac Lee

Isaac Lee is Chief News, Entertainment and Digital Officer for Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America. Lee is also CEO of Fusion, a multi-platform media company that serves a young, diverse, and inclusive millennial generation. Fusion delivers a unique mix of news, pop culture, and satire content that is both smart and irreverent across its TV and digital platforms.

He is responsible for the editorial oversight of Univision News across network, local and digital platforms and for all digital functions across the company – building on the strength of all of UCI’s divisions and platforms to develop an integrated digital strategy. Lee manages key areas of the company’s growth, including UCI’s comprehensive Multicultural strategy, which includes FUSION, El Rey, Flama and The Root. He is also responsible of UCI’s music strategy, which includes the Company’s music tentpole events and alignment with the Radio programming team.

During his tenure, Univision News has been recognized for its quality journalism and commitment to informing its audience. Under his stewardship, Univision News has been awarded duPont, Peabody, IRE and National Headliner Awards for its investigative reporting, as well as a Cronkite Award and King of Spain International Journalism Awards for Excellence in Political and Digital Journalism among other prestigious journalism, documentary and investigative awards. The news division has also received Emmys for outstanding investigative reporting, outstanding newsmagazine and outstanding breaking news coverage. Univision News’ outstanding journalism and reporting has also driven audience growth across key demographics. Under his management, Univision News also established a landmark joint venture with Disney/ABC to launch FUSION.

Lee’s focus and mission is to tell the stories that matter most to the rapidly growing U.S. Hispanic community. He has pushed his team to go beyond day-to-day reporting and pursue in-depth stories on the issues that most affect people’s lives, always with the aim of fulfilling journalism’s role of vigilance and service to the public.

Since first joining the Company as president of News in 2010, Lee has helped Univision News expand its brand and credibility by strengthening its news team and expanding its news operations on all platforms and by adding award-winning Investigative and Documentary Units. For the first time in the company’s 50-year history, Univision News expanded its Spanish-language offering by adding English-language content on digital platforms, continuing to meet its commitment to inform, engage and empower the U.S. Hispanic community. Lee’s 360⁰ approach to strengthen and expand Univision News across platforms and his digital-first track record at Fusion, led to his appointment to lead the Company’s digital efforts across UCI. Lee has also created digital partnerships between Univision and Variety, Red Bull Media House, Participant Media and The Atlantic among others.

Lee has been leading journalistic teams for nearly 20 years at prominent publications serving Spanish-speaking audiences in the U.S. and Latin America. He founded and served as chairman and editor-in-chief of influential magazine PODER. In 2014, Lee was honored by the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) with their Next Generation Leader Award for the launch of FUSION, and he was also recognized on the CableFax100 list of Game Changers in the cable industry.

Lee currently serves on the board of the Associated Press. He is a member of the Journalism Board of ProPublica, the Board of the Committee to Protect Journalists and the Board of the International Center for Journalists. He also serves on the Peabody Advisory Board and the Board of Legendary Entertainment.
