The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) appeals for the release of James Foley, an American journalist who was kidnapped on November 22, 2012 in northwest Syria.
According to Global Post, one of his employers, unidentified gunmen intercepted Foley's car in Idlib province en route to Turkish border. A Syrian witness recounted the details of the abduction over the phone to a journalist in Turkey. Foley has not been seen or heard from since.
The Foley family has launched a campaign for Jim's release.
The Committee to Protect Journalists cites Syria as the world's deadliest country for the press in 2012, with 28 journalists killed and at least two others reported missing.
