ICFJ to Honor Tom Brokaw at Nov. 13 Dinner in DC Egyptian Blogger, Burmese Reporter Also to Receive Awards

WHO: Tom Brokaw will receive ICFJ’s Founders Award for Excellence in Journalism.

Wael Abbas of Egypt will be the first blogger to win the Knight International Journalism Award. His reports of police violence against political protesters have been picked up by mainstream media, and resulted in the arrests of several policemen.

May Thingyan Hein of Burma will be honored with a Knight award for her hard-hitting investigative reports on poverty, health, the environment and other topics.

Anton Kazarin of Russia will receive the Paul Klebnikov Fund Prize for Excellence in Journalism for outstanding coverage by the business magazine group where he works as editor-in-chief.

Bob Woodruff, the ABC anchor who was gravely injured in Iraq, will give the keynote address. He will also join Master of Ceremonies George Stephanopoulos for a question-and-answer session.
