Investigative Story Tracks Donations Intended to Help Refugees in Haiti

Mar 122012

In the aftermath of Haiti's 2010 earthquake, scores of non-governmental organizations and churches moved in to help. The Fund for Investigative Journalism, developed by Knight International Journalism Fellow Kathie Klarreich, is encouraging Haitian journalists to track aid money provided by these groups, to see whether they're fulfilling their promises to redevelop the country.

Reporters Ruvens Ely Boyer and Bichara Villarson investigated the efforts of one church group, Grace International, which proposed to house those left homeless after the quake. The result? A hard-hitting video that shows just how mired in chaos Haiti still is.
