Knight Fellows Share Data, Mapping Skills at Latin America’s Biggest Hackathon for Media

    Knight International Journalism Fellows from around the globe helped spur news innovation at a key gathering for journalists and technologists in Buenos Aires.

Five Knight International Journalism Fellows participated in the Mediathon in Buenos Aires from August 30 – September 1st. The three-day event included two days of workshops. Knight Fellows Justin Arenstein, Sandra Crucianelli, Gustavo Faleiros, Ronnie Lovler and Jorge Luis Sierra presented and talked about their data and mapping projects. A hackathon was held on the third day. More than 250 people worked on eight projects.

The Buenos Aires chapter of Hacks/Hackers, which organized the Mediathon, is the second-largest chapter in the world. The New York City chapter is the largest. You can read more about the event on their blog.
