BEIJING, CHINA - Four top students from the Tsinghua University Global Business Journalism Program (GBJ) will work at the Permanent Secretariat of the Boao Forum of Asia 2008 in preparation for its annual conference.

Boao Forum of Asia, founded in 2001, provides a platform for dialog between government leaders and entrepreneurs across the region to create viable and sustainable economic and social development policies. Merrill Lynch is a sponsor of the forum and of the Tsinghua-ICFJ program and arranged for GBJ students to work at the Forum.

The students, Milcah Lu, Crystal Liu, Paul Wong and Stephen Tan, are all members of the first class of the Global Business Journalism Program, a groundbreaking program in China that teaches best practices in international business reporting. They will assist the Beijing-based Secretariat in handling press registration and inquiries from January to March. In April, they will travel to Boao and work onsite for a two-week period during the conference in April.

Qi Hong’er, director of the BFA Secretariat, praised the GBJ students for their intelligence and good English skills. “I am very impressed by the caliber of GBJ students and I hope more GBJ students can gain media-related experience through our office,” she said.
