Washington, D.C.- Veteran journalists Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” will serve as masters of ceremonies at the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) Awards Dinner on November 1. The annual DC event brings together more than 500 media luminaries and supporters to honor outstanding colleagues whose stories have helped improve societies around the world.

“Joe and Mika’s work represents the high level of quality that ICFJ seeks to promote in journalism around the world,” said ICFJ President Joyce Barnathan. “ICFJ is fortunate to have such talented and respected individuals headlining our event.”

Brzezinski and Scarborough will be on hand to honor ICFJ’s Founders Award winner Christiane Amanpour, host of ABC’s “This Week,” for her groundbreaking work as an international correspondent and anchor.

In addition, President and CEO of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Alberto Ibargüen, will give the Knight International Journalism Award to three exceptional reporters: Rocío Idalia Gallegos Rodríguez and Sandra Rodríguez Nieto, who have investigated violent drug cartels in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, and Thet Sambath, a Cambodian reporter who uncovered secrets of the Pol Pot regime.

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” features interviews with top newsmakers and politicians and in-depth analysis of the day’s biggest stories. Scarborough previously hosted “Scarborough Country” in primetime on MSNBC. Before then, he published and edited an award-winning newspaper, The Florida Sun. He served as a member of Congress from 1994 to 2001, sitting on the House Judiciary and Armed Services Committees. After he left Congress, President Bush named him to the President’s Council on the 21st Century Workforce, where Scarborough collaborated with national labor officials and business leaders.

Brzezinski is the co-host of “Morning Joe” and the bestselling author of “Knowing Your Value” and “All Things At Once.” Previously, Brzezinski was an anchor of the “CBS Evening News Weekend Edition.” She also worked as a CBS News correspondent, contributing to “CBS Sunday Morning” and “60 Minutes.” Brzezinski is the daughter of foreign policy expert and former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski.
