The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) administered a training focused on improving coverage on childhood development, the first of its kind. The Early Childhood Development (ECD) movement seeks to get more resources devoted to health and education of children in the critical early years from 0- 8. Evidence shows that focusing on children's development in those years pays off in healthier, smarter citizens and greater economic development for the countries where they live.
All together, 14 journalists received high-quality training and participated in a two-day conference focused on children's issues. Journalists were able to file stories about these issues to their home media outlets during the conference, and were instructed on skills helpful to continue to do in-depth stories on those issues after they return home.
