ICFJ's programs for Asian journalists
Strengthening Media in Timor-Leste
In a two-year project, the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) is working to develop a media institute and news agency in Timor-Leste. The aim is to improve the ability of Timorese journalists to produce and disseminate high quality news, particularly in the run up to nationwide elections in 2007.

Training for Tsunami-hit newsrooms

Knight International Press Fellows help television and print media in Aceh Province, Indonesia, recover in the wake of the Dec. 26, 2004 earthquake and tsunami that killed more than 125,000 people in the province and damaged or destroyed half of its leading city, Banda Aceh. Fellows will provide training on newspaper business management, photojournalism, print journalism and television journalism.

Improving Media Management Skills - The Economic Observer, China
The program brought 12 business managers from the Beijing-based business weekly The Economic Observer to the United States for ten days of training on business management, advertising and circulation. Participants attended workshops in Washington, and visited newspapers in Washington and New York where they will be briefed by management staff on U.S. media operations.

International Journalism Exchange
Ten foreign editors will spend five weeks in the United States to learn about newspaper management. The program will include a five-day course in Washington, D.C., a month-long newsroom attachment and three days in New York City.
