2016 Photo Auction

Making History

To honor the work of outstanding photojournalists and to support our programs, the International Center for Journalists has assembled a collection of magnificent images, called Making History, which will be auctioned at our Nov. 14 dinner.

The signed, framed photographs capture pivotal events in history. There’s Jimmy Carter, atop a car extending handshakes to an excited crowd, as he campaigns for re-election in 1980. First lady Hillary Clinton hosts a meeting with Princess Diana and other luminaries at the White House in 1996. And President Obama delivers a speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial two days before his inauguration in January 2009. Two Pulitzer Prize-winning photos are included: AP photojournalist Nick Ut’s classic, “The Terror of War,” featuring a screaming Vietnamese girl after a napalm attack in 1972; and Carol Guzy’s “War and Innocence, ” an image of refugees fleeing Kosovo in 1999. David Hume Kennerly, a Pulitzer Prize-winner and Gerald Ford’s official photographer, offers a stunning portrait of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat amid the pyramids in 1977.
