Kenya: How Could This Have Happened?

Former Knight International Journalism Fellow Joseph Warungu of Kenya explores the questions plaguing his country after militants killed more than 60 people at the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi.

Warungu, a long-time BBC correspondent, is currently leading the African Story Challenge, a multi-stage contest awarding journalists throughout the continent for the best reporting on business and technology, agriculture and health. Warungu has just launched the second phase of the challenge, which focuses on coverage of diseases. ICFJ is a partner in the project, which Warungu is running on behalf of the African Media Initiative (AMI).
