Salvadoran Sports Journalist's Investigation Exposes Corruption Thanks to ICFJ Training

In El Salvador, the sports pages have become beacons of investigative journalism in recent months, thanks largely to sports journalist David Bernal.

El Centro Internacional para Periodistas (ICFJ) en alianza con CONNECTAS convocaba a periodistas de El Salvador, Guatemala y Honduras a participar en uno de los tres talleres regionales sobre técnicas de investigación y uso de herramientas digitales.

Knight International Journalism Fellow Deborah Kirk completed three months of journalism training in the Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Honduras in 2002, partnering with El Colegio Dominicano de Periodistas.

Knight International Journalism Fellow Michelle Garcia completed five months of journalism training in El Salvador in 2007.

Dominican Republic, Honduras and Panama: Journalism Training (2001)

Knight International Journalism Fellow Deborah Kirk completed nine months of journalism training in the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Panama in 2001, partnering with El Centro Latinoamericano de Periodismo (CELAP).

Ecuador, El Salvador & Panama: Journalism Training (2004)

Knight International Journalism Fellow Joe Rubin completed eight months of journalism training in Ecuador, El Salvador and Panama in 2004, partnering with El Centro Internacional de Estudios Superiores de Comunicación para América Latina (CIESPAL).

In El Salvador, Knight International helped the premier news Web site elfaro.net enhance its interactive coverage and generate new revenue streams.
