The popular online encyclopedia Wikipedia is generally not available in China because it's blocked by a firewall. But Hoodong, a Chinese version of Wikipedia, is widely available and is used by nearly 700,000 people. In this podcast, Hoodong founder Haidong Pan talks to Chronicle technology reporter Ellen Lee in an interview she did during her trip to China last fall. He talks about the impact of the Web site, which is based in Beijing, where the world's attention will be focused for the next two weeks because of the Summer Olympic games.
