Job Description: 

ICFJ is seeking a consultant or team of consultants to develop a Persian-language toolkit of expert resources on computational journalism for its IJNet Persian site.

The consultant(s) will be tasked with producing engaging, evergreen resources that draw on timely lessons learned and best practices around computational journalism. The consultant(s) will design the toolkit resources to be of interest and use for Persian-speaking journalists working around the world.  

The ideal candidate has a background in computational journalism, and must be fluent in both Persian and English.

Responsibilities:

  • Determine best practices, important tools, and lessons learned in computational journalism.
  • Generate an outline of topics for toolkit resources, and their format.
  • Identify computational journalists and experts to interview.
  • Produce 6-10 expert resources to be published on IJNet, including:
    • Case studies
    • Evergreen resources detailing tips and tools related to computational journalism
    • Multimedia resources

Timeframe:

The consultancy should begin in September 2022 and will last approximately 6 months, based on effective completion of deliverables, as determined by ICFJ headquarters program staff. This is a part-time consultancy. 

Location:

The consultant(s) will work remotely, and report to the IJNet Director in the Washington, D.C. headquarters.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution; 
  • Master’s degree or higher strongly preferred;
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in journalism;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with computational journalism;
  • Familiarity with Persian-speaking media landscape;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Fluency in Persian and English.
