As part of the ICFJ Knight Fellowships team, Aldana Vales works with journalists and newsrooms around the world to promote innovation and experimentation in media. That includes managing Velocidad, an accelerator program for Latin American startups.
Prior to her work on ICFJ’s flagship initiative, she was in charge of the Social Media Solutions training, which equips journalists in the Middle East and North Africa with the latest tools and digital skills.
Before joining ICFJ, Vales worked with the Membership Puzzle Project, helping media organizations experiment with audience-centered business models. She also provided research support to identify best practices on community engagement around the world.
Originally from Argentina, Vales graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with a bachelor’s degree in communication sciences. She also has a master’s degree in journalism and digital innovation from New York University. She is a native Spanish speaker and loves drinking mate.
