As a Program Assistant, Cory Sagerstrom is responsible for providing support to ICFJ’s program staff as the team works to support journalists around the globe, including in Latin America. In this role, he is responsible for assisting with program finances, logistics, and activities.
Sagerstrom is a recent graduate of Tufts University, where he majored Spanish and International Relations. Before joining ICFJ, Sagerstrom gained experience in various nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable communities from around the world, including the Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights, the Rian Immigrant Center, and Ghana-based education nonprofit PEN. He also performed research with the Project on National Movements and Political Violence.
A native of Boston, but a dual Swedish-American citizen, Sagerstrom has always been fascinated by other countries and cultures. He is fluent in Spanish and a student of Swedish and French. Through having lived or worked in the US, Spain, and Chile, he believes deeply in the power of international networks and cooperation to fight for more just societies and catalyze positive change- and is proud to work with ICFJ towards that mission.
