As Director of Development, Jenn Larsen forges relationships to build ICFJ’s visibility, impact and revenue. She identifies and cultivates corporate, community and individual donors who help make ICFJ’s work possible. In addition to coordinating major gifts and sponsorships, Larsen manages the annual Awards Dinner.
Larsen’s background includes experience in development, digital media and communications, knowledge management and operations. She has directed philanthropy programs in the fields of healthcare, community service and the arts. She is keenly interested in innovative event experience design and cultivating meaningful donor relationships that strongly align with mission. Further, by working closely for a former U.S. ambassador with deep connections to the media, she gained an understanding of both the power of diplomacy and the importance of press freedom.
Her lifelong interest in writing led her to become involved in the early days of digital media and online journalism. As a co-founding owner of the website We Love DC, Larsen helped create a writer-centric culture with the core principle that authentic voice builds audience, serving as arts & culture editor, and then editor-in-chief. She is proud to have mentored dozens of young emerging writers, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in journalism and digital production.
Hailing originally from Connecticut, Larsen received her bachelor’s degree in drama from the Catholic University of America (where she actually flew across the stage), and is a veteran of National Players, bringing classical theater to underserved communities across the country. Her passion for writing began at an early age at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.
She is honored to help support and champion journalists in their pursuit of truth through ICFJ’s development efforts.
