As the Deputy Vice President of Programs, Johanna Carrillo is responsible for ICFJ's Innovation and Specialized Reporting programs. Carrillo also assists in the operational management of program staff and develops and implements ICFJ programs in the US and abroad.
Originally from Chile, Carrillo is a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English and Portuguese and proficient in French. Carrillo studied journalism and communications and has traveled to more than 40 countries, carrying the ICFJ flag to many of them.
Carrillo is at her best when she is working with journalists and media organizations to make this world safer, cleaner, more just and better informed.
Carrillo’s previous experience includes being ICFJ's senior program director, the director of the International Journalists' Network (IJNET), working as an associate producer on Televisión Nacional de Chile (TVN) and as a project manager and field producer at JL Producciones in Santiago, Chile.
