ICFJ Workshops for Pakistani News Media Leaders

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) has partnered with the University of the Punjab in Lahore on a new hands-on program designed for Pakistani media leaders.

Launched in early 2015, the series of three-day workshops target management issues. The sessions tackle decision-making, investigative journalism, journalists’ safety, media law and digital news production. The first three workshops drew 60 Pakistani media executives from news outlets such as AAJ, ARY, Dawn, Dunya, Express and GEO. Two U.S.

One in five Latin Americans report having been victim of a robbery over the past year. The cost of crime varies from 2 percent of GDP to over 10 percent.

Training in Local Languages Will Help South Indian Journalists Use Social Media

Vernacular journalists and bloggers often are at a disadvantage as news outlets around the world increasingly rely on social media and digital tools to engage audiences. They may lack the language and skills needed to meet the demands of an online newsroom. <p/> To help address this technology and information gap, the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) is creating a cutting-edge curriculum that will help media professionals and journalism educators learn to use social media to connect with audiences in three South Indian states.

Russia-U.S. Young Media Professionals Program

Taller de Protocolos de Seguridad Física y Cibernética - Honduras (2014)

Training the Next Generation of Tunisian Media Professionals

Building on the success of the 2012 program, ICFJ will continue hosting a three-year program that allows Tunisian students seeking their master’s degree in journalism the opportunity to train and report in the United States. The participants will learn practical skills to enhance their reporting, meet with experts working in their field of interest and immerse themselves in U.S. culture.

Back In The Newsroom Fellowship 2014

Back In The Newsroom is a fellowship program that brings five professors from historically black colleges and universities to spend a summer working in digitally advanced U.S. news organizations. This “internship” will help journalism educators see firsthand the new skills needed for students to succeed in today’s newsrooms.

The fellows will update their digital skills, develop cutting-edge curricula and strengthen relations between these newsrooms and their schools. The program will help improve diversity at leading U.S.
