Charles Ebikeme
Charles Ebikeme is a freelance journalist with a PhD in infectious diseases and neglected tropical diseases. Ebikeme transitioned from academic research into journalism during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he noticed that politics seemed to be taking the place of science-based health journalism. Ebikeme has published articles with the British Medical Journal, Nature News, The Republic Nigeria, The Guardian, and Huffington Post. He has also worked in science policy at the London School of Economics, the International Science Council, and UNESCO’s International Social Science Council.
During this fellowship, he plans to center his work on solutions-based stories to amplify the voices of the Global South, focusing particularly on the use of novel, technology-based innovations in healthcare.
