Sonia Narang

Multimedia Journalist

Sonia Narang is a multimedia journalist at the BBC/Public Radio International program The World, where she covers health and global development. She recently launched a maternal health series, The Ninth Month, about pregnancy customs around the world.

Narang has reported stories across India, Pakistan, Nepal, Japan, and the US for the BBC, PRI's The World, the New York Times, GlobalPost, PBS NewsHour, Frontline/World, and Time.com.

Narang has a master's degree in journalism and documentary film from the University of California at Berkeley. Her multimedia stories are online at . She also posts her photography work from around the world on Instagram and Twitter, and you can follow her @sonianarang.

Project Proposal: Narang plans to report stories about the challenges facing women in the weeks leading up to childbirth. She will cover the effects of undernutrition and child marriage, and also focus on innovations that have helped reduce maternal, child, and newborn mortality.
