User Friendly: The site makes it easier for visitors to learn about ICFJ, apply to opportunities and find valuable resources.

At the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), we connect with journalists, partners and supporters every day through our website. It could be an editor in Lagos in search of opportunities to build her expertise on climate change. It could be the founder of a digital news site in Brazil, seeking new tools for measuring the impact of his team’s reporting. Or it could be anyone in the world moved to make a donation in support of the truth tellers.

With the launch of our new website, we are making it easier for visitors like you to learn about what we do, take part in our programs and support our efforts. We are thrilled to share the new site with you, a project that has been in the making for over a year and that all ICFJ staff have touched in some way.

Our new site offers an excellent user experience on all devices, as well as simplified navigation and smarter design. We also took this opportunity to revamp a lot of our content, in an effort to better tell our story. And we refreshed our logo, with brighter colors and a new font.

Some highlights that we are particularly excited about:

  • You can now easily explore our work across five topic areas: Media innovation, investigative reporting, global exchanges, specialty journalism and diversity programs. You can also see what we’re doing in each region using our interactive map on the same page.
  • On our calendar, you can find opportunities to participate in our programs - from innovation fellowships and reporting exchanges to study tours and digital skills trainings. You can also quickly find the information you need to apply, such as dates and application requirements, on our redesigned program pages.
  • And on our resources page, you can find our research studies, reporting guides and other tools for journalists. This includes highlights from IJNet, our digital news platform offering tech advice, training opportunities and journalism resources.

Our website overhaul not only involved ICFJ staff, but current and past program participants, ICFJ Knight Fellows, partners and even ICFJ award winners who contributed photos, provided quotes and shared in our enthusiasm. Thank you to all of those who helped. We want to give a shoutout to our vendor - the Washington, DC-based RAD Campaign. They delivered a clean, focused design that achieves what we wanted: a better experience for visitors like you.

Please explore the new site and send us any feedback at communications@icfj.org. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to get valuable resources, opportunities and news that we hope will advance your career and deepen your knowledge.

'Women Who Won the War' is Creating Space for Women in the Middle East to Tell Their Own Stories

The Syrian Civil War has claimed the lives of more than 500,000 people since protests against the government during the Arab Spring ignited into conflict in 2011. Nearly 7 million Syrians have fled abroad in a mass exodus, and an equivalent number have been displaced inside the country – in total, over half of Syria’s pre-war population. The war has since faded from global attention but Syrian journalists continue to report on it today, while bearing witness to the crimes committed in what has been one of the 21st century’s deadliest conflicts.
