ICFJ at the iMEdD Forum: Leading Discussions on News Influencers, Media Trust and More

ICFJ+ will be in Athens this week for the iMEdD International Journalism Forum.

ICFJ+, the International Center for Journalists' new venture launched in partnership with tech powerhouse Code for Africa and systems builder PROTO, will contribute to talks and workshops focused on news influencers, the current state of journalism and more. Team members will also be present at ICFJ+’s booth in the iMedD Media Village to meet and exchange ideas with attendees.

Journalists and media professionals are invited to join these events in person at the iMEdD Forum. All sessions, with the exception of workshops, will also be recorded and shared online after the conference.
 

  • Navigating the Age of Doubt – Sept. 25, 6:15 p.m.
    ICFJ+ co-founder and Code for Africa CEO Justin Arenstein will take part in the Forum’s opening session, moderated by iMEdD Co-founder & Managing Director Anna Kynthia Bousdoukou. Arenstein and panelists will dive into the current state of the media – and how news providers can move forward to restore trust, relevance and integrity.
  • Unlocking the Power of Nano Influencers – Sept. 27, 11 a.m.
    At a time when a growing number of people get their news from influencers, ICFJ+ Co-Founders Sharon Moshavi and Justin Arenstein will explore how newsrooms can collaborate with news creators and influencers to better reach young people.
  • "Unaliving" Language Online: How Modern Journalism Decodes "Algospeak" – Sept. 27, 4 p.m.
    IJNet Senior Editorial Director David Maas will moderate a session on the rise of algospeak – the coded language social media users adopt to bypass automated content moderation systems – and what it means for journalism.
  • Using Drones and Sensors to Power Your Reporting – Sept. 27, 4 p.m.
    In this practical, hands-on workshop, Code for Africa experts will share how information providers can use cost-effective drones, sensors and satellite imagery to collect data that drives hard-hitting journalism.
