Ian N. H. Gumprecht

Ian Gumprecht is a non-profit Board professional with a wealth of experience leading, fundraising, and connecting both communities and individuals to the respective missions of the various organizations of which he is a part. Ian has helped lead The WaterFront Center in Oyster Bay, NY, as past President and current Vice President. He is President of the Oyster Bay Sailing Foundation and has served as both Vestry Member and Warden at St. John’s of Lattingtown Episcopal Church in Locust Valley, NY. Additionally, Ian is a past president of Floating The Apple in New York City and has served on various boards and committees of several other private organizations. As a former investment professional in both equity markets and real estate, Ian holds a degree in Financial Statement Analysis & Securities Valuation (Baruch, 2010), and a Graduate Certificate in Real Estate Finance & Development (NYU, 2014).
Having completed his undergraduate studies at Northeastern University (2000) with a B.A. in Political Science & Latin American Studies, Ian has spent considerable parts of his life living, studying, and working in South America. It is because of this experience that Ian has a deep first-hand understanding of the significance of the Global South as both a consumer and creator of news media within the context of the global diaspora and as a fundamental determinant of the future of a free press and truly democratic governmental systems around the world. As the fourth generation of the Howard journalism family, Ian has had a lifelong insider's perspective on the business of journalism and the fundamentals of quality journalism.
