Lucía Gardel
Lucía Gardel is an Argentinian journalist focused on fact checking. Since 2018, Lucía has been working at Chequeado, Argentina’s leading fact-checking organization, and currently, she holds the position of sub-editor.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, her reporting on the illegal sale of chlorine dioxide led Argentine Federal Police to seize the substance in 13 raids. In 2022, she published an award-winning investigation on misinformation surrounding the Malvinas War, recognized by the Argentine Network of Foreign Policy Professionals (REDAPPE).
Gardel took part in every edition of Reverso, a collaborative project to fight misinformation during election times. Her work has led her to give workshops on electoral misinformation in different countries, as well as in various provinces of Argentina. She holds a degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA).
