Rashid El Habi

Rashid El Habi was a 2014 ICFJ Professional Fellow from the Middle East, on the program "Unlocking the Economic Potential of Digital Media." He is a managerial professional specialized in improving the efficiency of information technology (IT) systems and business processes in the banking and telecommunications sector. El Habi worked for Banque Commerciale du Maroc initiating information systems and for its subsidiary Attijari Locabail as IT and control manager. He served as head of IT from 2001 to 2005 for the internet service provider Maroc Connect, overseeing a technology strategy to support the company’s launch and growth. He then served as IT senior manager for the telecommunications operator MediTelecom from 2005 to 2011, improving the governance and architecture of information technology systems. He is currently managing partner of the Morocco branch of the French company Neoxia, which offers IT consulting and software development. As such he develops mobile, web and e-commerce solutions for local and international businesses especially in media. Accumulating expertise in how to plan a “mobile enterprise” (a business whose important functions can be managed off-site via wireless devices), he published a paper in the International Journal of Computer Science Issues in 2013 proposing a new methodology of mobile strategy planning. El Habi holds an engineer’s degree in computer science from Mohammadia School of Engineering in Morocco as well as several professional certifications.
