Thiago Medaglia

Founder

Thiago Medaglia is a journalist, writer, and founder of Ambiental Media, a Brazilian initiative dedicated to investigative journalism based on science and data. Former editor at National Geographic Brazil, Mongabay and InfoAmazonia, Medaglia holds a Master of Arts degree in the History of Science from Harvard University, and was a MIT Knight Science Journalism Fellow in 2020. Before that, he was also a fellow at the Entrepreneurial Journalism Program in the City University of New York (2016), and an ICFJ fellow in the program "A Digital Path to Entrepreneurship in Latin America" (2015). As a reporter, he travelled for five years for Terra magazine, a pioneer publication in Brazil focused on geography and expedition, and is the author of five books about environmental issues. His work has been awarded a few times and he has published stories and opinion pieces at Folha de São Paulo, Estado de SP, Mongabay, National Geographic Brazil, Mother Jones and other media outlets.
