Photo Auction

The Presidential Collection

Own a piece of history! Our photo auction is very special this year. We are showcasing a collection of one of the most outstanding photojournalists of our era: David Hume Kennerly. A Pulitzer Prize winner, Kennerly served as Gerald Ford’s White House photographer. A limited-edition set, specially chosen for ICFJ, spans his remarkable 45-year career.

From Richard Nixon playing the piano at the Grand Ole Opry in 1974 to the Obamas in a tender moment before an inaugural ball in 2009, Kennerly has captured the key figures in the executive office. Ronald and Nancy Reagan hold hands on the White House balcony, while George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, nervously await the hotly contested 2000 election results. Kennerly was there when, for the first time, five U.S. presidents gathered in the same place. One photo shows George H.W. Bush making rabbit ears behind his wife, Barbara.

Kennerly's photos have graced the covers of TIME and Newsweek no less than 35 times.

One complete set of 23 was available for purchase; a second framed set was sold individually. The auction concluded at ICFJ’s Awards Dinner on November 13.
