In December 2016, Etchichury started coordinating the Investigation Group (GDI) at Diário Gaúcho, a unit inspired by the Boston Globe’s Spotlight team. GDI consists of 10 senior investigative reporters (team of radio, television and newspaper reporters) specializing in investigative journalism.
In his 19 years as a journalist, Etchichury was a reporter, special reporter, security editor, and the Zero Hora digital news editor. He has received 20 national and regional prizes, including Esso, Embratel, Justiça e Direitos Humanos, and Grande Prêmio CNT.
Etchichury graduated from the Pontifícia Universidade Católicado Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), and received a master’s degree in social sciences in 2010 from PUCRS. In 2014, he completed his second master’s degree in journalism brand management, from the International Institute of Social Sciences (IICS).
