Please note, the participants have already been selected. All applications are closed.

In March 2018, ICFJ will embark on a two-week “U.S. Study Tour for Brazilian Journalists: Press Freedom and Innovation in Journalism” with 10 media professionals.

The study tour will feature visits in Washington, D.C.; Austin, Texas; and San Francisco, California. This tour will facilitate an exchange of information, professional links and contacts between the Brazilian journalists and the U.S. media professionals, academics, technologists and other experts whom they will encounter. This study tour will show how independent journalists with high-level skills and professionalism strengthen and preserve democracy in the United States.

This study tour will further demonstrate the latest trends in digital tools and innovation and their applications in journalistic work and citizen engagement; show how open data catalyzes the work of journalists, technologists and civic activists, fostering collaboration in the public interest; and explore new, effective digital media business models and how journalists are working to create their own successful models.
