As editor of Correio Nagô, one of the principal community information outlets in the state of Bahia, Azevedo reports on racism, gender, race, social class, and other issues. Azevedo was part of the Mobilization and Advocacy Policy Center of a nongovernmental organization called Comunicação Interativa (CIPO), where she provided weekly reports on human rights violations using print and digital media to disseminate the news. In November 2017, Azevedo was invited by UNESCO to cover the third International Conference of African Descent in Cali, Colombia.
In 2011, Azevedo graduated in journalism from Social College and is currently seeking a postgraduate degree in gender, race, and sexuality from Bahia State University. Dominique also has a degree in Innovation in Politics from the Argentine organization Asuntos Del Sur.
