Shuka Kalantari

Shuka Kalantari was a Bringing Home the World Fellow in 2013.

Shuka Kalantari is a freelance health reporter in San Francisco. Shuka produces freelance radio and multimedia stories for Public Radio International’s The World, KQED Public Radio News and KQED's The California Report, and KPFA Pacifica Radio’s Voices of the Middle East and North Africa. She covers health with a focus on refugee and other immigrant communities. She received a Master's degree in Multimedia Health and Medicine Reporting from The City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism. Her work has been recognized by the New America Media Northern California Ethnic Media Awards. She received the 2013 Association of Health Care Journalists California Health Fellowship, and the 2009 USC California Health Journalism Fellowship.

Shuka explored issues faced by LGBT Iranians seeking asylum in Turkey and Canada.
