Teresa Marie Welsh

Teresa Welsh is a Senior Reporter at Devex. She has reported from more than ten countries and is currently based in Washington, D.C. Her coverage focuses on Latin America, U.S. foreign assistance policy, fragile state, food systems and nutrition, and refugees and migration. She writes Devex's food systems newsletter, Devex Dish.

Prior to joining Devex, she worked at McClatchy's Washington Bureau and covered foreign affairs for U.S. News and World Report. She was a reporter in Colombia, where she previously lived teaching English. Welsh earned bachelor of arts degrees in journalism and Latin American studies from the University of Wisconsin. She is a 2017 International Women's Media Foundation Fellow.

Through the ICFJ Global Nutrition and Food Security Reporting Fellowship, Welsh produced a story about how Kenya’s malnutrition crisis requires immediate attention, but government policy isn’t helping and a troubling report on malnutrition in the country.
