Turning information into action

Information should be power, but only when it's relevant and reliable. Too often, it's neither, leaving people unable to navigate complexities or make informed decisions. 

We launched Plus to change this. We cultivate civic intelligence – information that helps people make sense of the world and act constructively to shape it. 

Achieving this requires radical collaboration between allies committed to driving transformation. Together, we can forge stronger, more effective news and information ecosystems for all. 

Plus was co-founded by Code for Africa, the International Center for Journalists and PROTO in 2024. The European Journalism Centre joined Plus as a constituent member in June 2026. We are registered in South Africa and operate from Cape Town, Delhi, Doha, Maastricht, Nairobi and Washington, DC.

• Dominion: Providing actionable insights on environmental issues, from climate risks to disputes over natural resources

   

Our Foundation

Plus was co-founded by civic tech powerhouse Code for Africa, media support network International Center for Journalists and PROTO, a Delhi-/Doha-based systems builder. We are longtime partners who joined forces because we saw how much more we could do together. Plus combines our strengths – deep experience building information ecosystems, supporting an engaged global network of journalists, and designing systems that strengthen civic media.
