First Pan-African Health Journalism Network Created

Bellagio, Italy—Journalists from across Africa announced the creation of the first continent-wide professional association of health journalists.

The new organization, the African Health Journalists Association, aims to improve the quality and quantity of reporting on health issues so that people across the continent can make healthy choices for their lives. The group’s media coverage will encourage the best possible public health programs and policies throughout the continent.

China’s Business Journalism Education Program to Expand at Tsinghua University

Knight Foundation support helps increase student body, deepen curriculum

WASHINGTON – The International Center for Journalists is expanding its pioneering Global Business Journalism Program at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

A $125,000 grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the nation’s leading journalism funder, will help the center expand the program’s student body, deepen its curriculum and create new partnerships.

Washington, DC - Nineteen select young journalists from the United States and Germany will spend the summer working as foreign correspondents on either side of the Atlantic as 2009 Arthur F. Burns Fellows. This is the 20th year for U.S. journalists to report in Germany under this program.
